Rugs for Dubai Apartments: Marina and Downtown Scale
Rugs for an apartment in Dubai ask for different decisions than rugs for a villa. Ceilings are lower, rooms flow into one another, and the floor is usually marble or porcelain running wall to wall. In Marina and Downtown towers the living space is often one continuous room, so the rug does the work that walls would do elsewhere, marking out where the seating ends and the dining begins. The questions are the same ones we answer for clients choosing luxury rugs in Dubai for villas, but the answers change with the architecture.
What apartment floor plans actually need
Most two and three bedroom apartments in Dubai Marina, Downtown, Business Bay and JBR share the same bones. An open living and dining room sits behind floor to ceiling glass, the bedrooms open off a corridor, and hard flooring runs throughout. A rug that would sit comfortably in a villa majlis crowds an apartment living room, and a standard size bought off the shelf often lands either too small to hold the furniture or so large that no border of stone remains to frame it.
The working rule is to measure the seating arrangement rather than the room. Bring the rug to the sofa, keep at least the front legs of every piece on it, and leave a margin of bare floor around the group so the composition can breathe. Our rug sizing guide walks through each room in detail.

Living rooms in Marina and Downtown towers
For a typical Marina two bedroom, an 8x10 ft rug, 240x300 cm, holds a three seat sofa, two chairs and a coffee table with room to spare. Larger Downtown and DIFC layouts carry a 9x12 ft, 270x360 cm, comfortably. In a genuinely open plan, the considered answer is often two rugs, one under the seating and one under the dining table, in the same material and related colours, so the space reads as one room with two purposes.
Dining tables and bedrooms
A dining rug should let every chair remain on it even when pulled out, which means the table footprint plus roughly 60 cm on each side. For most six seat tables that is a 6x9 ft rug, 180x270 cm. In bedrooms the rug earns its keep at six in the morning, running under the bed and past its sides so the first step of the day lands on something soft. A deeper pile suits this best, which is why the Plush collection spends most of its life in bedrooms.
Materials under a high floor's light
Glass towers admit a great deal of sun. New Zealand wool holds dye deeply and ages evenly, and a wool and silk blend shifts in tone as the light moves through the day, which suits west facing Marina rooms particularly well. Rotate the rug once or twice a year and draw sheer curtains through peak afternoon hours. There is more on this in our guide to caring for rugs in the UAE climate.
When a standard size is not the answer
Apartments reward exact sizes more than any other home. A rug cut to the corridor's true width, or sized to stop precisely where the kitchen stone begins, makes a floor plan feel intentional in a way no standard size can. Every Rugberry design is made to measure in Dubai, sized to the centimetre in any of our materials, with hand-tufted pieces ready in about 30 days and hand-knotted in about 60.
