Some fibres absorb a room's light; mohair returns it. Woven into a rug, it carries a low, shifting lustre that moves as the day does, so the same piece reads differently at breakfast and at dusk. This is why designers reach for mohair when a room is built on texture rather than pattern.
The fibre
Mohair is the fleece of the Angora goat, shorn only twice a year and prized for a rare combination: the sheen of silk with far greater strength. The trade has long called it the diamond fibre. It takes colour deeply and holds it, which is why mohair tones look lit from within rather than painted on.
Why mohair underfoot
A mohair rug is warm without weight and resilient without stiffness; the pile recovers, the lustre endures, and the surface improves with living. It suits rooms that stay quiet in palette and rich in material: bedrooms, studies, drawing rooms where the rug is felt as much as seen.

Our mohair work lives in Rugberry Reserve, in two designs: Relic and Sillage, each woven in a palette running from Ivory and Sand through Latte and Mochaccino to Chocolate, Charcoal and Slate. Each piece is handcrafted, made in small number, and shown on request.
