Luxury Rugs for Saudi Homes: Ordering Custom Rugs in Riyadh and Jeddah

Saudi homes ask more of a rug than almost any interior in the world. The majlis alone can run ten metres along a wall, formal dining rooms seat sixteen, and the scale of new villas in Riyadh and Jeddah leaves standard rug sizes looking lost. This is why so much of our work now travels to Saudi Arabia: rugs made to the room, not rooms arranged around the rug.

The majlis comes first

No room shapes a Saudi rug order like the majlis. Seating runs along the walls, sightlines cross the centre of the room, and the rug is seen whole in a way it never is under a Western sofa arrangement. Two approaches work. A single rug sized to leave an even margin of floor around the seating, which for a large majlis can mean six metres or more in length. Or a pair of rugs mirrored across the room, which suits very long rooms and makes future cleaning simpler.

Pattern matters more here too. Because the centre of the rug stays visible, designs with a quiet field and detailed border, or an allover texture that reads evenly from every seat, tend to work better than a single dramatic motif that faces one direction.

Materials for the Saudi climate

Air conditioning, marble floors and strong light set the conditions. Wool performs beautifully, insulating against cold marble underfoot and holding its colour in bright rooms. Wool and silk blends bring a controlled sheen that reads as light moves across the majlis through the day. For bedrooms and formal reception rooms, pure silk remains the most requested material we send to Saudi Arabia, cool underfoot and unmistakable in person.

Deep pile rugs are best kept for bedrooms and family living rooms. In the majlis, a medium pile keeps furniture stable and traffic marks invisible.

How ordering from Saudi Arabia works

Every rug we make is made to order, so ordering from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or anywhere in the Kingdom follows the same path as ordering in Dubai. Share the room dimensions or a floor plan, choose the design and material, and we prepare a scaled drawing for approval before production begins. Colours can be matched to fabric, stone or paint references, and physical samples are couriered to you before anything is woven.

Production is by hand and typically takes six to twelve weeks depending on technique and size. Delivery to Saudi Arabia is door to door, fully tracked, with customs handled as part of the shipment. Recent deliveries have gone to Riyadh and Jeddah within two weeks of leaving production.

Seeing the work before you commit

For clients in Saudi Arabia the process is remote but never blind. We share the design drawn to your dimensions, strike-offs of the actual weave where the project calls for it, and photographs at each stage of production. Many of our Saudi clients are interior designers working on full villa projects, and the same service is available to private clients furnishing a single room.

A rug sized to a Saudi majlis is not a stock product anywhere in the world. Made properly, to the room, in the right material, it becomes the surface the whole room rests on.
