A Designer's Guide to the Rugberry Trade Program

Rugberry works with interior designers, architects and studios across the Gulf and the United States, and most of that work arrives through the trade program. This guide sets out how the program works in practice, from first enquiry to a finished rug on a client's floor, whether the project is a villa in Dubai, a majlis in Riyadh or an apartment in New York.

Who the trade program is for

The program is built for professionals specifying rugs on behalf of clients: interior designers, architecture practices, procurement teams and stylists working on villas, penthouses, hotels and yachts. The common thread is that the rug has to answer to a scheme, a floor plan and a deadline rather than to a shop shelf, so the program is organised around made to measure work and direct access to the Dubai workshop. Details and enquiries sit on the Rugberry Trade Program page, and trade terms are discussed at enquiry.

Made to measure is the default

Almost every trade commission is cut to the room. Sizes follow the floor plan rather than a standard chart, and colours are developed to the scheme rather than picked from one. That flexibility is the point of working with a Dubai workshop directly: the rug is drawn for the space it will live in. Our custom rugs Dubai page describes the service, and the steps from floor plan to weaving to finishing are set out in the bespoke rug design process.

Materials designers specify

The core catalogue is hand-tufted and hand-knotted work in New Zealand wool, wool and silk, and pure silk, with handwoven jute for more relaxed rooms. American designers tend to arrive through the rare fibres, mohair, alpaca, cashmere, merino and llama, which can carry a project when the brief asks for something clients have not felt before. Our note on rare fibre rugs is a useful place to begin a specification conversation.

When the timeline is short

Bespoke work rewards planning, and the best commissions enter the schedule early, alongside joinery and stone. For projects that cannot wait, the Quick Custom Program gathers designs that can be produced to size on a shorter schedule, so a room does not have to choose between a deadline and a rug made for it.

Samples, and where to see the work

Fibre is judged by hand, not by screen, so sampling is part of the process rather than an afterthought. We dispatch samples to studios in the Gulf and the United States, and designers in Dubai are welcome at our sales office at 1804 Al Ameri Tower, Barsha Heights, Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Enquiries reach us at info@shoprugberry.com, and finished rugs are delivered across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the wider GCC and the USA.
