Silk Rugs
Silk Rugs, Woven Light
Silk is the only fibre that behaves like light itself. A silk rug changes as you cross the room: tones deepen, then lift, the surface reading differently from every doorway. No other material gives a floor that kind of movement while lying perfectly still.

The fibre
Silk is a continuous filament rather than a crimped strand, which is why it takes dye deeper than any wool and returns light instead of scattering it. It is demanding to weave and always has been; that demand is what the finished surface is made of.
Two ways to live with it
Rugberry weaves silk in two registers. Through the main collections it runs as wool and silk weaves, where silk traces the light through a wool ground, and in designs like Luma it carries the piece entirely. Pure silk lives in the Real Silk Collection and in Rugberry Reserve, in work like the Patina design, made in small number and shown on request.
Rooms it belongs to
Silk favours the rooms a house is proudest of: formal living rooms, bedrooms, spaces where light is part of the architecture. Where footfall is heavy, the wool and silk weaves carry the effect with more forgiveness.
How it compares
Silk against wool and cashmere, on light, durability, cost and care: our material guide sets it out in full.
